Grasmere Sports and Show, along with other Lakeland shows, has it’s roots in the areas agricultural community. (The 'Sports' has it's origins in the annual Sheep Fair that used to be held on the first Tuesday in September). Cumbria has around 25 Young Farmers Clubs spread across the county from Kent Valley in the south, Longtown in the north, Kirby Stephen in the east and Egremont in the west. Amongst the good work that they do for the community (fundraising for charities) they also participate in the sports that form the core of Grasmere Sports & Show on Sunday 25th August this year.
Sports Directors, as part of their work in supporting young people in the county, have been visiting YFCs Field Days (a real testament to their organisational skills and energy) in the north and south of the county to find out how we can further support their activities. In 2024 we have sponsored specific YFCs and in 2025 will be continuing to build strong links with our Young Farmers and Cumbria’s farming community. Without our agricultural community, we don’t have any food! Why not come along to Grasmere Sports and Show on Sunday 25th August and experience Lakeland's 'Heart'. Tickets on sale soon.
