Grasmere Sports and Show is famous for showcasing the best of Lake District sports. What you may not know is that, over 170 years ago, the Sports and Show began as a sheep show with farmers and shepherds competing for wrestling and running prizes once the business of the day was complete.
This year, along with the great sports, food, trade and craft stands, we also have representatives from our agricultural community who will demonstrate what they do to ensure that we all have good food on our plates and a beautiful environment to enjoy. The agricultural community are the custodians of our local traditions.
The Grasmere Fellgather will showcase the many values and benefits that farming in the Lake District brings to food production, our cherished landscapes, nature, community and the rural economy.
Join Lake District Shepherds and their sheep, watch practical demonstrations, including sheep handling, shearing, auctioneering and woollen crafts. Hear expert commentary and come and see our sheep, throughout the day from 10am.
