IMPORTANT NOTICE: GRASMERE SPORTS 2026

At Grasmere Sports we have been working hard to save money, and to make our sports more affordable. Everything right now is getting more expensive! So, we want to help people visit the Lakes, without it costing the earth. Our plan for Sunday 30 August is to reduce our ticket-entry price to £0 this year - completely free! - and to make a modest charge for parking instead.

This will particularly help local families, who will be able to come to Grasmere Sports for the price of a bus ticket. Please rest assured, there will be lots of affordable car parking for people who do need to drive here. But, if you can come to Grasmere on the 555 or 599 buses, walk, or cycle, it will be free!

Our goal is to encourage more people to get outdoors, and to take part in our traditional Lakeland sports. The best way to do this - we believe - is to make it easier for you and your family to take part. We would love to see you again at Grasmere Sports.

Gates open 10am, Sunday 30 August.

Grasmere Sports has been going strong for 175 years. We have weathered COVID, two World Wars, and (most importantly) the gradual erosion of the Lake District community, as family homes have been turned into holiday lets. The most recent 2025 Sports was a very cheerful event. It was well-attended and successful. But we want to… Continue reading 2026 New Year’s Message from Hal Bagot, John Hibbert, Paul Abbott
